Psychology Careers
Psychology careers require a deep level of commitment from every individual, and is no cake walk of any kind. As we are young we hold many beliefs and ideas that are very different from the ideas we hold as adults. When we are kids we dream romantically about the way life will be, and what we will do, when we grow up. Some of us fantasize about becoming fireman, astronauts, policeman and even movie stars.
These are common childhood dreams, but few of us follow through with them to their completion. Many of use end up taking very different paths in life. As kids none of us dream about growing up to have psychology degree careers.
A career in psychology requires unselfish service to the world and to society. It requires in depth study into the mechanisms of how people feel and how they think. These feelings and thoughts are often reflected in human behavior, which is why psychologists also observe human behavior. The studies are often performed in groups and monitored in controlled settings so that psychologists may be able to accurately study how is it that humans think and feel, and therefore, behave in various situations.
Careers in psychology also require not only the observation of individuals, but also groups. Careers in psychology with a Master's degree must explore the differences in thought patterns in the context of groups as well as individually. Obviously the behavior can be dramatically different when people are placed in groups as compared to isolated settings.
On a different end of the scope, psychiatrics deals with the emotional aspects of mentally disabled individuals. A career in psychology may be similar, but they are not the same. At first appearance the two careers may seem identical, but upon a closer investigation, it is clear to see that a career in psychology is very different than a career in psychiatrics.
